Winston "Great Room"

The proud owner was involved in designing and furnishings.  Every room in this remarkable home incorporates the dreams and vision of the owners - husband and wife.

Buzz Hull Construction is the general contractor.  Carlos Coon, P.E. is the mechanical/ electrical Engineer; Maxwell Engineering, the structural engineer.

In-progress view of Great Room indicating variations in lighting control intensities and effects.  Note no lighting penetrations of ceiling, exposed fir structure, quatrefoil art glass, acoustical upper panels contain lighting and mechanical air registers.  Leaded glass windows by Jacqui Partain on each side of the fireplace are custom designed to meet the owner's personal vision for space.  AEC,Inc. of Dallas was acoustical consultant and installer.
Great Room bar and entertainment center is accompanied by an extensive display of American baseball and football stadium scale models.  To the left behind the gun cases and sound-proofed is  a complete home theater designed and installed per our coordination by James Senseney of Bjorns of San Antonio  and AEC,Inc. with state of the art equipment and acoustics.
Dining off the Great Room and Kitchen features a seasonal area display which is supplanted by a grand piano in the "off season."  Sloped lodge pole pine latilla ceilings over the lower Dining and Entertaining areas on each side of the Great Room incorporate fabric-covered acoustical backing to soften the reverberation of the 50 feet square space, as well as to sequester lighting, speakers, and HVAC registers.  Robbie Schoggins of Stevens Lighting was the lighting consultant.

To quote Jacqui Partain, her "Leaded Glass Works meshes closely with architects to enhance and complement their concepts, as well as, to coordinate our designs with theirs from a single entrance to an entire estate."

The owner's desire to create a unique western style lodge with as much natural lighting as possible, achieved the objective through the skills of the leaded glass work designer and installed into architect-designed carved stone quatrefoil frames as features in the Great Room, Entry, Baths, and gable ends.  The massive double 4 ft. by 10 ft. mesquite doors also feature Partain's glass designs, suggested schematically by our firm and executed by Jacqui.  Accent windows are lit from radio-controlled exterior and interior sources for dramatic presentation.
